<<Slushy, yet happy>>

In the morning, I don't normally read the newspaper. I love CBC Morning on Newsworld. It's just faster for me to listen, watch, and eat breakfast all at once. Today was a bit different.

A colleague showed me an article in the National Post regarding the Emerson border crossing. The article had a picture of the 24-hour point of entry that I have travelled to and from Manitoba and North Dakota. I didn't understand how that could be. The article stated that only 65 vehicles pass through it a day. Every time I'd go through it to Winnipeg, it's always busy. I'm always waiting for a customs officer.

Well, I finally figured out what the problem was. In Manitoba, there are two border crossings that are called Emerson. Emerson East is the one that may close in a month's time and is only open from 08:00 in the morning till midnight and shares the Manitoba/Minnesota border. Emerson West is the one that is open all the time and shares the Manitoba/North Dakota border. It's the one that I have generally taken in the past. The article stated that this crossing is called "West Lynne". I've never seen a sign saying that it was the West Lynne border crossing. I know that Emerson West doesn't go through Emerson, but all the signs say Emerson point of entry. It also says Emerson when one travels to the Manitoba border from Minnesota.

So, I wrote to her, saying that both points of entry are called Emerson, and that the picture she had in her story was the Emerson West (her West Lynne) border crossing. She didn't respond to it, but it would be nice if reporters would come down to actually visit both border crossings. I think they are a five-minute drive away from each other.

I found out this morning that my workplace and the area surrounding it had at least two power failures overnight. As a result, my system administrator had to reboot all the servers. Two of his monitors were fried. So, it was an hour before I could do some work. Once I could, I was extremely productive.

The system administrator at my workplace was really nice. He asked me towards the end of the day if everything was working fine. I said that, on the whole, it was. I just couldn't access the company's FTP site. He found out that after the power outage, one of the computers on UPS took my IP address, which is why I couldn't access the FTP site. My colleague just has to reboot his PC to release my IP address.

After work, I had my acupuncture appointment. He asked how I was and how my mom was doing. I'm doing so well that I'm now going to see him once a week. I updated him on my mom and he is pleased that she is getting better.

For dinner, I had spaghetti pie at a pie place next to my acupuncturist. It was really good. That place makes excellent pie, too. One of these days, I'll order one and just pig out.

I've spent a quiet evening at home. I watched the Canadian junior men beat their American rivals. I was so happy!

It's extremely warm today. I think it was -1 degree C today. It was a slushy drive around the city. My car definitely needs a wash. I was surprised I could see through it today.

Tomorrow, I'm seeing Evita at a local theatre. I'm curious to find out how the company will pull it off.

Anyway, that's all for now. It's time to crash and dream.
