<<YWG, YQT, YYZ, and INXS>>

  • Woke up at 08:00. Packed and headed out the door just before 10:00.
  • Visited my favourite Petro-Canada and filled up the gas tank. Cost me $40.
  • Got to the airport and returned the car. Had to wait for a bit, but it was fine.
  • Thought about using the new Air Canada kiosk in the car rental building to check in, but it was down. Headed to the terminal to check in instead.
  • Had breakfast at Harvey's. Had the deluxe breakfast special. Was good. Hockey nut had the western combo and liked it.
  • Played pinball. NBA. Played Pacman and Galaga afterwards. Then, sat down and chatted to hockey nut before saying goodbye and walking through security.
  • Got the security wand again. Must have been the metal on my jeans.
  • No one was at the check-in counter. Supposed to check in at 11:25. It was 11:40 until someone had arrived.
  • Headed down two flights of stairs before exiting outside to board the plane. Loved it. Sat in the fifth row. Jazz has nice leather seats. Just have to be careful not to hit my head on anything above me.
  • Flight was good. Spent it reading the En route magazine.
  • Had the ramp to the airport in Thunder Bay. Visited the washroom and then headed back to the gate to wait. Talked to hockey nut on the phone, who was updating me on the score in the World Cup of Hockey. Typed out my journal notes before boarding the plane at 13:45.
  • Had teenager reading People teen next to me. She decided to move to the thirteenth row, one back of where we both were. Good. I could stretch out and nap.
  • Got a full can of diet Coke. Napped for a bit. Flight experienced some turbulence a couple of times. Got into Toronto ten minutes early. Switched my cellphone on immediately, which was a first. I rarely bring my cellphone on a flight.
  • Got luggage off carousel, paid for parking, walked to my car, and drove off.
  • President's son (PS) had called me. So did spy girl. Called my parents. Wished my mom a happy mother's day. She was busy getting her hair cut. We terminated the call fairly quickly.
  • Called PS as I was merging onto highway 409, indicating that I was on my way. Traffic was kind of slow, so I suggested that he hang loose there for a bit. He was already at the parking lot across from the York Mills subway station. He couldn't understand that there was a building in the parking lot. He's not terribly swift.
  • It was a parking lot in both the collectors and express lanes. Got off at Avenue Road and cycled over to Yonge, heading northbound. Called PS and told him that I was behind the red car in the left turn lane. He saw me. Waved profusely at me. Drove into the lot and picked him off.
  • Went over to Mount Pleasant and drove downtown. Parked in regular lot. No attendant. Tried paying at the machine, but it was out of service. Wow, free parking downtown -- a first!
  • Had a bite to eat at Subway. I was hungry. Ate a meatball sub with a drink and two cookies (chocolate chip and macadamia nuts). Realized that the concert was at 19:30. We had fifteen minutes to spare.
  • PS's other leg was bothering him (that is, the one that he didn't sprain the previous week). Got there and we each bought a t-shirt. Heard Stabilo sing two songs.
  • Usher helped us to our seats. Couldn't see a thing in the dark. Luckily, I had my keychain flashlight. All was good.
  • Stabilo was good. Had a lot of fun. "Everybody wants" and "Flawed design" were the crowd-pleasing songs from the band's set.
  • PS left during the break and came back with iced caps. I was pleasantly surprised that he treated me to one. I needed it badly.
  • Countdown began (five minutes) to the INXS show. Three switches appeared on both screens and on the screen over the main stage.
  • Concert was good. Just have to keep in mind that J.D. Fortune can never replace Michael Hutchence, but that he did a good job doing his thing.
  • "New Sensation," "Need you tonight," "Devil inside," and "Never tear us apart" were goodies from the past. The new songs, "Afterglow," "Never let you go," and "Pretty Vegas" did well, too.
  • J.D. was lighting up and puffing on cigarettes throughout the show. He started out in a suit and tie, but changed to a t-shirt down the road. Lots of energy. He was everywhere, interacting with the crowd. It was an enjoyable night. Told the crowd to "stay Canadian." Concert review on canoe.ca.
  • Show was over a 22:30. I was amazed. Walked back to the car and drove PS home.
