<<James Blunt in T.O.>>

I slept fairly well. The process of trying to fall asleep was annoying. Once I did, I had over four hours of uninterrupted, solid sleep. I think the rain outside helped me out a bit.

Driving in the rain is nice sometimes. It was already 16șC outside when I had left for work and I liked walking into work with a hoodie over my head. I talked to the receptionist as we walked in together. I said good morning to the sales coordinator and butter. I then started to work.

The moocher called me as I was punching a number of holes into my document. He indicated that he could hear butter girl talk from where he was located. Obviously, she was loud. He pointed out that he wanted to put a foot in her mouth. I told him to be careful what he wished for -- that she may have a foot fetish or something. We both laughed.

I didn't talk to iPod boy (DJ) until later in the day. I was too focused on updating my PowerPoint presentation.

I went to sign in just before noon. The receptionist serenaded me with her rendition of "Mary, Mary," which was cute. I enjoyed it.

Accompanying me to the concert tonight was the president's son (PS). He came over to talk to me. Somehow, I revealed that my weekend is going to be hectic.

I was asked by the helpdesk manager to clean out some network folders. I had copied all my files from my old computer to my current one months ago. I haven't deleted what I don't need since. So, I did just that last night. All is good now.

Both the accounts payable and receivable colleagues said goodnight to me, and hoped that one day, I'd leave before they did. DJ went to sign out and then came back to say goodnight to me. That was different. He normally says bye, signs out, and then leaves.

So, PS and I drove downtown. He actually paid for parking for a change. I was shocked. Is there an apocalypse or something? Too bad he didn't know what my licence plate number was, so I had to visit the booth anyway.

We went to Le Biftheque for dinner. There was a dinner party going on, so we sat in a different section of the restaurant. I had the roasted chicken fettuccine alfredo. PS had the burger. Earlier, I had asked him what he was going to order. I didn't get a response. A minute later, he asked me the same question. I responded by saying that I had asked him first. He is definitely a follower, which is a tad annoying.

Well, I went with a rum and coke. Naturally, he followed suit. We both had the tall version. I was fine. He was getting a bit sleepy.

After dinner, which was delicious and fast, we crossed the street and went back to my car to put a few things away. PS dropped the company mail in a mailbox before we visited 7-Eleven. I bought some mints and vitamin C candies. We proceeded to visit a Royal Bank ATM (I needed money) and headed to the Air Canada Centre.

It wasn't as crowded as it can be at the ACC. We got in just fine. I bought a t-shirt and a tour book. He did the same. We then hit the floor. We were in the 25th row. That's pretty good, considering that I got the tickets two days after they were available online.

The opening act was Favourite Sons. It's neat how a band from New York State spells its name with a letter u. I was impressed by that and their music. I love the lead singer's voice. He had a good rapport with the crowd, introducing "Pistols and girls," and then taking that back to sing a different song. The band sang that song a bit later. I wouldn't mind owning the band's CD.

I enjoyed James Blunt's entrance on stage. He was fired up, shaking his guitar everywhere. I had a wonderful time. He, too, has an excellent rapport with his fans. He's brilliantly funny, he leaps from huge speakers down to the stage's platform, and he's easy on the eyes.

He talked about being stationed in Medicine Hat for six month and his experience in Kosovo. He indicated that folks thought he sang like a girl, but that he had an advantage -- that he could sing with the women.

Just before he sang "Goodbye my lover," he made his way towards the piano and sat down. Everyone was cheering. He pointed out that we shouldn't. Chances are that he's going to sing something sad.

James sang some new material in the mix, which was well-received. He also did a cover of Supertramp's "Breakfast in America," which was a whole lot of fun.

Naturally, I was pleased that he sang two of my favourite songs: "Wisemen" and "Out of my mind." I was such a happy camper. I don't think I've smiled like that at a concert for such a long time. I had completely forgotten that the Tim Hortons didn't have any iced caps tonight. Instead, I ordered a cafe mocha without the whipped cream. It was fine, but it wasn't what I had wanted in the first place.

He ended the show with "You're beautiful." It was nice how everyone sang along to the one line that had profanity. Hmm. There was another audience sing-along earlier, at the end of "Goodbye my lover."

James was gracious at the end of the show, thanking everyone for coming. At the beginning of the concert, he thanked everyone for buying his CD. He thought that his mom would be the only person buying it. Anyway, he pulled out a camera and took a picture of everyone in the crowd. That was neat.

The only bad thing about the show was the couple sitting next to PS. They had weak bladders and had to dash to the washroom a few times. Other than that, it was a great show.

We walked to my car and I drove PS home. We talked for a bit. I wasn't impressed that PS had told his stepmother, the president's wife, that he wasn't coming over for Thanksgiving. Instead, he let the cat out of the bag that he was going to a concert with me. I don't want executives with big mouths to know what I did away from work. It's none of their business. I told him to exercise some caution.

I had to stop at a gas station to fill my car up with gas. It was going for 76.5 cents a litre. I was pleased.

I got home just before midnight and climbed into bed just after 02:00.
