Today's Thanksgiving Day. To me, it was Sunday. I did nothing but bum around the house today. I read the newspaper and listened to music. I was in more discomfort than I have been for a bit. I think it's due to my using the inversion table last night. I watched Live! with Regis and Kelly. It was Regis and Joy today. The former had laser eye surgery. He had his eyes tested on the air and they seem to be better. That whole slicing of the cornea on television was kind of scary. I played Bejewelled for most of the afternoon. I then called the president's son (PS) after 16:00. He seemed to be away. I called him on his cell for good measure. I got nothing. He seems to like screening calls, I guess. He called me back about five minutes later. He said that he was in the shower. Anyway, I said that I'd come down to pick him up within the hour. Surprisingly, I didn't get any complains from him to provide him an estimated time of arrival. I think he knew I wasn't all that pleased with him. I arrived at his condo at 17:10. I drove us along the Danforth. It brought back so many memories. I passed by the closest mall where I used to live, my orthodontist, the high school where I had taken a shorthand course one summer, before ultimately visiting the neighbourhood where I used to hang out with a childhood friend from Chinese school. I parked in a lot off Broadview and Danforth. PS offered to pay for parking. I was distracted by a couple that asked if I had change for $5. I only had $4.35. They were okay with that. PS cannot read. He showed me a paid parking ticket for $0.75. I told him that his measly purchase only covered thirty minutes. I told him that he needed the flat rate of $4 and told him to look up at the sign. This man doesn't read much. This fact boggles my mind. As a result, we had to line up again. Already, folks were lined up in front of the Danforth Music Hall. We needed to grab a bite to eat and visited a restaurant called Mambo. I had looked at the menu taped to the window and loved the choose-your-starter-main-meal-and-dessert setup. We went in. The restaurant had burgundy walls with a black ceiling. I had the Cuban corn chowder, braised beef stew, and crème caramel with coconut. Everything was wonderful. PS had the same starter, but went with chicken à la king and the crème brulée as the main dish and dessert, respectively. PS isn't daring as far as trying new foods. However, he actually liked what he was eating. We kind of made up, with my telling him two things that annoyed me last week: the whole there-were-paper-products-in-the-washroom-when-I-was-there routine and the fact that he doesn't value my privacy. He told me that he understood. As the saying goes, on va voir. Well, we had finished dinner at 19:00. PS can't tip for beans, either. I had a brief chat about that with him. We then went to the music hall and got good seats. The opening band was Kevin Devine and the goddamn band. They were great. Kevin tends to strum his guitar in jerk-like motions. I need to check their music out soon. He said that he was going to hang around for thirty minutes before the band had to drive to New Haven, CT. KT Tunstall appeared at 21:00. She is an amazing singer and musician. She played a number of different guitars, the drums, and the piano. She also has a natural, comfortable rapport with the audience. She even yelled back at screaming folks who said that they loved her on several occasions. As expected, "Black horse and a cherry tree" and "Suddenly I see" got the most cheers. She pretty much sang everything off her debut CD and it was such a treat. She's a wonderful performer, especially when she records what she had just sung and incorporates that into the same number. The encore consisted of two cover songs. She also invited a woman who looked like Cher and a guy in a cowboy outfit up on stage. It was a bit strange with the guy pretending he got shot or something. He then took off his shirt. Weird. In any event, the show was wonderful and entertaining. I love her music even more. After the show, PS bought us soft drinks from McDonald's. I obviously consumed a lot of salt. I then drove him home. I got home at 23:30. There are benefits to going to a venue that's closer to where I live.
