<<Amanda Marshall and Cora's>>

Saturday

  • Woke up at 09:30. Had breakfast. Caught up reading the newspaper. Cleaned up. Parked my car on the street. Helped my dad with the groceries.
  • Had chicken wings for lunch, along with mashed potatoes and some vegetables.
  • An hour later, I went to exercise. Watched some of my taped shows. Showered. Got ready to head out.
  • Met the president's son (PS) at Jack Astor's. Had a smoky bacon burger with Manhattan clam chowder and fries. PS had a bacon cheeseburger and thought I had his burger when it had arrived at the table. I advised him that mine had the crispy onions in them and his didn't. For dessert, he had vanilla ice cream and I had the chocolate cake. Yummy.
  • We talked and ate for 1.5 hour. We left at around 18:40 and drove along highway 7 to highway 12. I was not impressed with a slow car leading the pack of four of us (we were the fourth car behind the slow car and I was not impressed that the guy behind me had his high beams on). Both the slow guy and the high beam guy exited the road about ten minutes later. The car now leading us was slow. I passed by two cars and got on with my journey.
  • Rain came down intermittently, but stopped during the last half our of our trip. Got to Casino Rama at 20:25. Parked and went through the hotel to get to the entertainment centre.
  • Amanda Marshall came on stage just after 21:00. She had a white blouse and black pants. Her hair was down to her waist. She had red stilettos on. She looked a bit older, but she sounded better than ever.
  • She talked about how she didn't know Rama was an actual town. She said that she grew up by a Bowlerama. She asked what folks from Rama were called. Ramanians? Ramens? She said that she liked the noodles.
  • She doesn't have a new album, but it was nice to see her again, belting out tunes just as I remembered them. She didn't break out in a sweat when I first saw her. Tonight was no exception.
  • She revealed what she was wearing Spanx. She talked about going to Frankfurt (Frankfurters and Ramens) and having a Sarah McLachlan moment, which was hilarious. She danced the same way and her hand gestures were still as spastic as ever.
  • She did a cover of Janis Joplin's "Mercedes-Benz," which was powerful and tasteful.
  • One standing ovation. She got flowers and a number of CDs to sign. It was a treat hearing and seeing her perform again. Two hours later, the show was over.
  • Spent some time playing a couple of slot machines with PS. He actually bought me a bottle of Diet Coke. He then lost $25 playing the slots. I lost $15, but it was fun. We then walked to the car and headed back home.
  • It only took me 1.5 hours to get from Casino Rama to his place. I suppose highway 48 is faster and it did help that I had passed a few cars. He fell asleep briefly for a bit, but it was nice that he was up for most of the ride.
  • I got home just before 02:00. I did some work on the computer for a bit before I called it a night.

Sunday

  • Woke up to the sound of my mom yelling at my dad about turkey stew just before 09:00. I was not impressed, considering I had earphones over my ears and had hit the sack at 03:30 this morning. Tried going back to sleep, but couldn't.
  • Brushed my teeth and called the sales coordinator. We decided to do brunch at Cora's today. Broke the news to my parents. My mom wasn't terribly happy, but seemed to cheer up when I put away the breakfast that I should have had and asked if she wanted anything from Sam's Club.
  • Got to the sales coordinator's house by noon. She gave me some M&M's that were a parting wedding gift she got on Friday. We talked and caught up as I drove us over to Cora's.
  • The server, Eric, recognized me. He remembered I had a raspberry smoothie. This impressed both of us. I'm the one who can distinguish between i and 1 on their menu. I had Cora's special. She went with poached eggs, which looked divine. We talked about work. She vented more. I suppose I'm not because I'm leaving soon.
  • Visited Future Shop. Wii consoles are available for $269. She got a cool case for her iPod nano. I purchased an FM transmitter for my iPod, where I cam play the radio on it. Cool.
  • Headed over to Sam's Club. Well, we went to Best Buy first. I got a neoprene case for my new iPod classic. She got a pack of five lanyards for her iPod nano.
  • Went to Sam's Club. After trying on a number of peacoats, I found one in brown that I liked. I also got a purple iPod shuffle. Yay! There are more iPod colours at Sam's Club than Costco. The sales coordinator paid for the goods. I said I'd pay her back this week. She used her sister's card to go there.
  • Headed back to her place and chatted. Had After Eight hot chocolate. Played games on her DS Lite. Saw pictures she had taken at the wedding. Left at 19:30 and headed home.
  • Had chicken wings and salad for lunch-dinner. Talked to my parents. Showered. Exercised. I'm beat.
